Lions Club Muny 100 Year Celebration

Several Fusers (Nicole, Max, Jazmyne, Abel, Ryan, Kristine and Beth) were excited to volunteer in support of the Austin Founders Lions Club Muny Centennial Celebration yesterday.  Lion Tommy Cowan lead the organizational effort for the event that included the Austin High School Drumline, Smokey the Cannon – Texas Cowboys, Antique car parade, aerial fly overs, formal remarks and golf tournament. We were able to assist in preparations for the BIG day and helped coordinate the Antique Car Parade.

Lions Municipal Public Golf Course (Muny) was the first public course in the south to racially desegregate and Muny is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

U.S. Rep. Lloyd Doggett, Austin Mayor Kirk Watson, Volma Overton, Jr and several other speakers shared some of the history and legacy the course.  Mayor Watson proclaimed October 3rd as “Lions Muny Golf Course Day.”
